Originally I had planned to book a maternity session with the professional photographer that we've twice used to take portraits of Georgia. I never did anything like that during my first pregnancy, and although I still find a lot of maternity photography to be either (a) super-cheesy, or (b) too intimate to feel like you'd ever want to hang it on your wall, I still wanted to capture this time in my life in some respect, because, c'mon - it really is an amazing transformation of the human body.
Anyway, I didn't want the whole "heart-shaped-hands-on-your-belly" thing, or the "husband-longingly-embracing-your-belly" thing, not because those are bad, they're just not my taste. Plus, somewhere along the way I also cheaped out and decided that for what I was looking for, we could do it ourselves. So, with many thanks to Joe, I give you my two favorites from what we were able to come up with.

gorgeous. i find handsmakingheartonbelly creepy myself.
You don't need a professional photographer! Cool pictures. Georgia is so pretty! And your belly is so huge! :-)
I agree with you on the typical maternity photos - the heart on the belly isn't really my style either. However, you're right - this is such an amazing time, so you definitely have to document it with photos. You guys did an amazing job! I love the pics!
I can't wait to hear when the baby arrives! Keep us posted!
What's that, Danni? Oh no, you're just confused by the perspective. You see, Georgia is a teeny, tiny, itty bitty person...must be creating the illusion of making my belly look large. : ) Ha ha ha - yeah right!
Lovely & perfect. I once went to view a house when we were looking to buy, and the family had up about 100 maternity photos of the mom all around the house. That violates the "take down your personal things when selling your house" rule times about, um, a million. These photos, on the other hand, are really tasteful and neat. Too bad you don't live near me or I would do some more for free (I'm a photographer, though still working really cheap/free). But then again, you don't need a pro...these are just awesome. Now come on out, baby! I am betting it is a girl...(or do you already know what it is?).
I love these photos!! I wouldn't have known they weren't professional if you hadn't said so. But, I'm glad you did because y'all deserve the credit!! So beautiful!
Beautiful and perfect for your portfolio-wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
I wish you would share the bloopers. Or just one. One of the "Oh my God, how did that go so, so wrong?" versions of the belly photo! That would be funny.
Oh yeah, Beth - that can definitely be arranged!
Beautiful photos! Well done!
Such amazing photos... That one with Georgia could be in a magazine.
