Do You Have Components?

In other (non-baby) news...

Have I mentioned lately how much I loathe the cable company?

Let's see...in addition to having a baby in the past month, the following things have occurred:

(You can guess which of these caused the most aggravation. Okay, it was #3 by a mile. Gave away that big surprise. #1 and #2 pale in comparison. I kid you not, I have actually had nightmares about Comcast in the past that Joe has had to wake me from. Perhaps I am not well.)

1) Our tenant (yes, we have one - at our old apartment) was attacked on the street (pretty badly, but thank God, she's okay), and now wants to move out because she doesn't feel comfortable living on her own any more, and we might be dealing with selling the apartment now, oh, and there may or may not also be a water leak in the bathroom that also needs to be addressed.

2) Our car was hit while parked on the street, by a guy who left a note but now must conveniently have amnesia because he pretended he didn't know what we were talking about when Joe called -- he claimed that "maybe his brother" left the note, so it looks like we'll be coming out of pocket to replace our partially crushed and dislodged rear bumper.

3) We caved and decided to join the 21st century and get DVR. Nice for us, and probably good for Georgia who wants to join the ranks of TV watchers, but this way - without so many commercials. 3 technician visits, 1 missed appointment, 3 dropped calls, 2 failures of the cable company to call when promised, and about 6 difficult phone conversations with customer service later, I think we have working DVR. Not that we've actually watched a show. The best part was when one of the dudes came to hook it up and then said that he didn't have the right components to do it, and then asked us, "Do you have components? You need components." Joe and I were dumbfounded, looking at each other and trying not to laugh while wondering out loud, "Why would we have 'components'?"

DVR rocks... IF you can EVER get Comcast to cooperate. They are such a pain in the neck...
