I Heart Faces Photo Walk

What's a photo walk? Well, funny you should ask, because I didn't really have any idea either before going on this one. Turns out that you have a leader and a meeting location, but from there you pretty much walk around and take pictures for practice. 

Pros:
--Tried something new
--Photographed different subject matter...that does not move, and does not make fake smiles
--Hung out with Kelly, my "cousin in law" (i.e., Joe's cousin's wife), for the 1st time outside of a large family holiday gathering or wedding
--Got 2+ hours of solid "me" time on a Saturday = awesome
--Good practice for this hobby of mine

Cons:
--We spent the entire time at Navy Pier
--It rained
--I kinda can't believe I was granted two hours of free time and spent it wandering Navy Pier of my own volition

You know how some people can photograph rusty, chipping paint and make it look just beautiful? Yeah, well apparently I'm not there yet artistically speaking. I found it hard to get inspired by most of Navy Pier. (Though come to think of it, this is perhaps a bad example. There's hardly any chipping paint there.)

Kelly is about the most positive person there is, so I hate to be so negative about Navy Pier, but it's just not my thing.  I had hopes that we were only meeting there but would be taking off to photograph more interesting architecture.  Nevertheless, it was definitely good practice for tinkering with camera settings and whatnot; I guess now I just need to tinker with my attitude.

I'm glad I went, and well...ditto exactly what Kelly said about being grateful to I Heart Faces for the opportunity to expand our comfort zones.  See, I told you she's so positive!
