Last Week's Honest Menu

Those of you who follow my friend Maggie's blog probably love her sidebar feature called "This Week's Honest Menu."  What a perfect place to steal a meal plan for the week if you haven't come up with one!

Of course, I'm too lazy/behind/disorganized to even stay on top of the stealing, so right now we're still flying by the seat of our pants from week to week when it comes to dinners, but hey, it's (kind of) working.  So, as a spin on Maggie's idea, I've decided to post "Last Week's Honest Menu", and I'll get it up in the sidebar as soon as I figure out how.  I'm not sure what the point of this is.  It's not really to provide you with great dinner ideas - can't promise that.  My hope is that the potential embarrassment of having to post what we served will cause us to step it up a bit.  (Kind of like people who post their workouts.)  It'll be a win-win, because either this will improve our dinners, or it will make you feel better about yours, right?

Here's what happened last week:
Mon.:  Attended "Meatless Mondays" cooking class with Joe (a Christmas present); threw together quesadillas and honey glazed carrots for 6 very last minute before leaving (to feed the kids plus my sister's family who were babysitting).  (I will get in trouble if I do not also add:  it was later reported that the carrots were so sweet and disgusting as to be inedible.  I guess when you run out of honey for the honey glazed carrots you cannot substitute with maple syrup, agave nectar and brown sugar.  Oops.)
Tues.:  Quinuevos rancheros and broccoli
Wed.:  Homemade pizza w/artichokes and sun dried tomatoes
Th.:  Salami sandwiches and peas for kids and me, takout Thai for Joe (and me too - who am I kidding?) after they went to bed
Fri.:  Basil, shrimp and feta orzo
Sat.:  Ate out.  At a water park.  In Wisconsin.  (That's a whole 'nother post.)
Sun.:  Beer can chicken, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts

BTW, looking at this list I just realized that there are two meals on it (Tues. and Fri.) that I could not have served at this time last year.  Yea for food allergy progress!

Can you please clarify that it was not your "sister", but the 5 year old and 3 year old who protested the sweetness of the carrots?

It will be a while before you see an honest menu from us. We have yet to have organized meals - just grab and go and get Mia to bed ASAP! We keep saying that we're going to have to start planning ahead soon but haven't gotten there... such a Mom thing that I have yet to adopt!
