The MONSTER Halloween Post of 2011

Okay, so we made it to a few Halloween events this year.  I'm just going to plop all the photos into this one monster post, because why not?

Joe and I agreed that last night's trick or treating was the best trick or treating ever that we could remember, maybe even including our own childhoods.  This was the first year that Georgia got really excited for it.  We discovered that June is apparently a candy fiend, so her excitement even surpassed her older sister's.  (The differences between these girls as of age two continue to amaze me.)

Wanna know why it was the best?  Because the girls were so brave and independent, our jaws were hanging open!  You have to understand, there are veritable throngs of people that come to trick or treat on the boulevard, the houses are set way back from the street, and somehow these girls navigated it all without batting an eye, Georgia who normally won't leave our sides, and June who's only two, after all.  Amazing what a motivator candy can be!

And I overheard Waylon in his costume getting lots of oohs and ahhs from the crowd.  It's so gratifying to get affirmation that yes, we do in fact have the cutest baby in the world.  (Oh, except p.s., then we came home and had to bounce/shush/soothe him to sleep for nearly four freakin' hours until I kind of wanted to kill myself (relax, I meant that facetiously, don't go reporting me to the postpartum depression police, but um, yeah, four hours). *Sigh*.)

But I digress.  Back to the happy!  Fewer words, more pictures!  Okay, here we go:

SHUT UP, YOU DID NOT GET A SNAPSHOT OF HER CLUTCHING HER HANDS IN PRAYER?! Oh yes, yes I did. I dare you to surpass the cuteness of that photo.

(I was parent volunteer of the day for her class, so I had to throw together a costume.)

In retrospect, letting Georgia hold Waylon for the first time ever without a pillow, while on a flight of stairs, was probably not our brightest idea, especially considering that June later that day tumbled head first down the very same flight of stairs.  In our defense, Joe was standing as a spotter just outside the frame here.

THE CARDS WON THE WORLD SERIES!!! C'mon people, his middle name is Albert, you know. (Not actually after that Albert, but still.)

(This picture cracks me up. Let your eyes blur a little, and it kind of looks like his head has been superimposed on to a cartoon skeleton.)

Halloween Eve

Chocolate chip zucchini muffins cupcakes for Georgia's preschool. I felt like including a picture since I was up making these after 11:00 p.m.  (When your kid's the one in the class with food allergies, in my mind you kinda gotta always volunteer to make the class treats when the school asks you to.)

Halloween
Trick or treating.

Best costume award goes to Nacho, the little dog from upstairs with a jockey on his back!

The babies of our building. Mossimo from upstairs is about 5 days older than Waylon (he only looks twice as big because his stroller was closer to the camera).

And then...
Sorting the candy into "safe" and "unsafe". Due to Georgia's allergies, we've got a strict rule of not eating anything until we get home. June struggled to understand that this year. : )

We had sort of a frugal Halloween this year.
Check out:
Cousin Alice wearing the purple dinosaur suit when she was two and a half

June wearing the Tootsie Roll suit when she was Waylon's age

and of course......

ME! Wearing the cat costume that my mom made when I was little:
1978?
Beth is the witch. Mom, is that blue eyeshadow I see?
