The T-Shirt Worked!

Did you see the election night coverage of the rally in Grant Park? It was a sight to behold. I suppose I should be embarrassed to admit it, but I found myself tearing up watching other supporters overcome with emotion. For me, it felt like one of those rare moments in history when something really big is happening, and you can tell while it's happening that it's really big. It just felt momentous, in a very exciting way. Even the next morning I got choked up at the radio report.

Aside from that, I think the rally showcased Chicago really well. The stars must've been aligned, because the weather (for a November night) was just perfect. The museums shone in the background. The crowd behaved, and smiled, and practically skipped down Michigan Avenue together afterwards.

I'm sure we're getting an interesting perspective here in Chicago. Over a week later, everyone seems to still be basking in the afterglow of Obama's victory, and water cooler discussions center on things like how Air Force One will jam up air space around O'Hare, and how two slots will be opening up at the Hyde Park school that Sasha and Malia attend.

My coworker suggested that I take a picture of Georgia with the newspaper for posterity. Great idea, except that I couldn't find a paper to save my life. Fortunately, someone loaned us one. We're pretty much an online newspaper family, so perhaps a screen shot would've been more accurate.

I can't tell you how many times I teared up! The next day I teared up just reading his speech again. It's an amazing time! You are so lucky to experience this in Chicago.
