Is it just me, or do you, too, run around in circles incessantly picking things up -- I mean, practically Tasmanian Devil style -- only to feel like you might live in the messiest home in America?
Has anyone figured this out? Help!

I read an article about an interior design woman who got giant wicker baskets for each room. So pick up becomes just throwing things in the (semi-attractive) baskets all the time.
Um, yes, this would be my life in a nutshell.
Seriously, Beth? A basket is the answer to all my problems? : P
I can't believe that was an entire article.
[Not to mock your helpfulness, of course. It's just that I'm not talking about toys so much as 1 stray sock, the camera, some chapstick, an electric bill, a silver tray, a container of bubbles, 3 pairs of shoes, today's mail, some dishcloths that got mixed in with our regular laundry, a backpack, the dirty clothes that Georgia stripped out of for her bath and got left on the floor, etc. These are the things that have me walking laps around our place from room to room returning them to their proper homes.]
Wait, can we put the kids in the basket?? I think THAT might be the answer.
But seriously, I am the worst when it comes to piles of random items all over the house. It's only gotten worse with a child in the mix. If I could remember what I had in my hand and put it away the first time, maybe that would help. Let me know when you find the miracle solution.
Oh - I thought you were talking about toys. You're still in the minor leagues in the "stuff" category. Just wait til they are both going to preschool. And generating "art". And bringing home papers. And parent notes. And rock collections. And a feather. And drawing one circle on a piece of paper and telling you that it is critical to keep forever.
You don't know how easy you have it now, really!!!!!!
No help, I accept it and move on. We pick up once a day after bath, before bed. At least it stays clean for 8 hrs or so that way.
Where should I even begin? Let's see...first you must add 2 more kids to the mix and then I am with Beth - just wait!! Have you seen the size of a Polly Pocket shoe? Just how big must the collection of Littlest Pet shops be? And then there is the "stuff" (for lack of a better word) that comes home from the birthday parties, the school carnival, the treasure box in the classroom..... enjoy!
