Baaaaaaaaaaa

Georgia has declared that she wants to be a sheep for Halloween.  Of course I had visions of beautifully coordinated costumes, she the cowgirl, her younger sister the horse.  Georgia balked at the idea.  When confronted with the sheep request, I suggested that she be Little Bo Peep, and June be the sheep.  No dice.  So fine, let the girl be exactly what she wants to be.  Sheep it is.  And no, I will not be donning the Bo Peep getup.

What I Could Do:  Make a sheep costume.  Think:  mucho cotton balls.

What I Should Do:  Buy a sheep costume.  They are not that expensive.  Plus, even making a cheap homemade costume will likely cost 1/2 the price of just buying one, and that doesn't include the cost of time spent on it.

What I Really Most Likely Will Do:  Buy the unbelievably adorable hand knit sheep hat on Etsy.  Make the rest of the costume.  Thus achieving the absurd outcome of spending just as much money as I would have if I had bought the whole costume, and just as much time as if I had made it all by hand.

I am a confirmed idiot, but I guess I can't help myself.  The hat is TOO. DAMN. CUTE.  You will see.

(Besides, if it weren't for suckers like me, where would all you crafty Etsy seller types be?)
(Oh, and p.s., yes, I realize Halloween is over a month away, but, you know...I've got a lot of cotton balls to glue here.)

And for some reason I thought that confirmed idiot link was going to take me to the stomach-boiling post...

Hmmm... I applaud your bravery. Now if you could just help me figure out how to make a homemade hippo costume, I'd be much obliged.

Kate, I have decided to make the leap from lurker to commenter! Rest assured that whatever you choose, you will be a better parent than me. Cathy and I are currently debating what to do for AJ and Sophie this Halloween. My vote is nothing (is it really worth it to spend an hour getting dressed up for <5 minutes of actual trick-or-treating?), while Cathy wants to do something super "twin-y" (I suggested Hans and Franz or Luke and Leia, but she's leaning towards cowboy/cowgirl or something equally lame). We'll probably end up with something super last minute that will cost 10 times more than I want to spend. Sigh...

John! I am so proud of you for making the leap. You know which side I'm voting for, right? COME ON. You have TWINS! You may be struck by lightning or something if you don't go over the top with them for Halloween. And besides, you probably only have a max of 1 or 2 years left of getting to decide this FOR them. Yes, it is worth the 5 minutes of costume wearing for the awesome photos you will show at their respective rehearsal dinners one day. It's all about the rehearsal dinners - never forget that. I love the Luke and Leia idea. Classic brother sister duo.
