Indoctrination Must Start Young

IMG_0716

I was a little hesitant about taking Georgia to this marching band event for young children only because she does not like loud things.  We prepped her for the volume ahead of time and even showed her some band videos online.  I promised her that it would be "happy loud."  I think in her view this was acceptable - distinguishing it from surprising/scary loud.

Anyway, who knows if any of that made a difference, but the point is, she L-O-V-E-D it.  Followed right along with the director, going from attention to parade rest and so forth.  Told me that next time she wants to bring along an instrument.  Maybe she inherited the band geek genes from me?

ONE CAN ONLY HOPE.  (Oh, I should mention for those of you who did not know me back then...I was in this fine ensemble for 4 years.)

{Gotta check out the trumpets, of course.}

June napped through it all, but I can't wait to go back with both girls and their cousins next year.  Go Cats!

[For good measure, here's a little video that probably only Hain will appreciate.]

Oh I'm so glad she loved it! Yeah, she's totally a chip off the ol' block.

It's so cool that they do this event for kids! The way that girl loves guitar she is going to be involved with music one way or another.
