(It's about time for another one of these, don't you think? I've got others up my sleeve. Maybe I should start taking suggestions?) ; )
I'll keep this short: who needs store bought deodorant when it's so fun and easy and cheap and eco-friendly and chemical-free and all that stuff to make your own!
You'll need: empty deodorant container, baking soda, corn starch, and coconut oil. Simple instructions can be found here.
Yep, even Joe is happy with this stuff. So I guess it's "strong enough for a man." His lesson learned the hard way: the melting point of coconut oil is 76 degrees farenheit, so don't take a trip to Mexico and store this in your carry-on. We'll be keeping ours in the fridge this summer.
Truth be told, I became a very lazy deodorant wearer in recent years. By that I mean, I think I once went almost a year without any, not by design but simply because mine ran out, I never got around to buying a new one, and then I realized, maybe I don't need it? (My theory is, you've got 3 situations: (1) you're not going to sweat really, so you don't need any; (2) you're going to do actual exercise, in which case deodorant/anti-perspirant isn't really going to stop you from sweating anyway; and (3) you're going to sweat a little during the course of your day, but we all shower so often that it makes no difference - you'll shower again before you actually stink.)
I just felt like sharing that, but I know it's not a ringing endorsement for this homemade deodorant in the eyes of people who are serious about their anti-perspirant needs. Rest assured, though, Joe is no lazy deodorant wearer and does not share my views.
P.S. Please, do tell us if we stink! That's what friends are for. I promise to tell you if you have spinach in your teeth.

I'm totally going to do this. And the shampoo thing too - in a couple months :)
Questions -
1. Have you considered starting a new "Corporate attorney by day / Urban Hippie by night" blog?
2. If not, are there urban hippie blogs where you get these ideas? Could you list them so I could look?
3. Do you use the homemade shampoo on your children? Or do you have a special homemade shampoo for children?
4. In general, whether homemade or store bought, do you have a face cream recommendation?
