Our cleaning lady came today (yes, we have one!*), and it was awesome.

Christmas decorations and I have an annual fling together that burns brightly but flames out fast. After about three weeks, I was ready to chuck the tree out the front window.

So Joe did.

I mean, there's a reason giant conifers aren't a popular design choice year round, am I right?

*She comes once every two weeks, and for twenty glorious minutes the entire house is clean.  Every trash can is emptied, and every surface sparkles.  I wish I were exaggerating about the twenty minutes part, but alas I am not.  Even though "clean and tidy" doesn't last around here, it's worth every penny.  I know it's a luxury not all can afford, and some who can would rather splurge elsewhere in their lives, but to me?  Well, let's just say I will find a lot of other things to cut before dear Bernadetta.  The poor woman even kindly puts up with a four year old and a two year old playing the hilarious (to them) game of repeatedly running in and out of the room where she's working yelling, "GIANTS!" at her while flailing their arms around.  I try to stop them, but it's hard when you're trapped under a nursing baby.

I am right there with you on the biweekly house cleanings! And mine usually last less than 10 minutes once we get home, unless Peyton miraculously falls asleep in the car and decides to nap. Otherwise, crumbs, play-doh bits, milk, you name it, all are on the floor and our living room looks like a tornado ran through it again. Sigh, but the bathrooms look pretty for a while. :-)
