1 whole banana
1 glass of green smoothie
1 bowl of Cheerios
2 slices of bacon
and a glass of milk
June:
All of that plus another half slice of bacon
Sheesh! Our grocery bills are already out of control, and our 5th family member hasn't even started making much of a dent in the food budget.
Here's the smoothie "recipe" that we used today, but with smoothies you can always wing it on amounts and ingredient substitutions:
Blend. Yum.
- 1 banana
- 1/2 c coconut milk
- 1/2 avocado
- 1/4 c water
- handful of frozen peach slices (maybe 6?)
- hunk of kale (approx. 1 c)
- top with ice (about 6 cubes)
June, keep your food on the table!

Better to spend a bunch of food and have them eat it than to have them push it around (Rosalie), throw it across the room (Violet), or declare it unacceptable (Lila). ::sigh::
Oh, I hear ya! I am very grateful that they'll eat. And even with "good eaters," I often find myself cursing the amount of food that goes down the drain. Dinner bugs me the worst because it requires the most effort to put together a nutritious meal, only to have the littles declare it unacceptable. But I am really stubborn in that regard -- no second meals/alternate offerings here! The only exception I guess is when Joe and I decide to order out for ourselves (usually stuff G is allergic to) and feed the girls some mac n cheese beforehand. Good luck, Cara. Food woes suck.
