Kid Rock

One of Georgia's birthday gifts from us was a toy guitar. Her birthday cake was also adorned with guitars by request.

I realize that, as is the case with most toddler interests, this is probably only a passing phase. We're certainly not trying to push musical talent on the child.

But lest you think we're making this stuff up....
  • We go to the farmer's market on Sundays where an overly elegiac, hipster version of a bluegrass band plays*, and after becoming entranced by it, Georgia spends the entire ride home in the stroller strumming her sippy cup, pretending it's a guitar.
  • Dinner these days is usually filled with, "Daddy play guitar?" and "Mommy play guitar?" demands, which we are happy to oblige. I can only imagine what our neighbors must think if they happen to look in our windows and see the entire family playing air guitars around the table. We really must look ridiculous.
Love this shot! Caught her in the act:

*yes, it's true. this genre of music does apparently exist. it's odd, but mostly enjoyable. but don't even get me started on the creepy, slow-motion tap dancer that accompanies these people. I'm sorry, but she looks like a marionette come to life, and it's not a good thing. if tap dancing isn't fast, it's just standing outside on a box kind of clicking your feet around.

Sounds like the kid needs to make another trip to Austin.
