Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, I'm done. With running for a while, that is.
Joe and I ran a 5K on Saturday with Sara, Vake and Stephanie. Truth be told, I "ran", with heavy emphasis on the air quotes there. To serious runners, I know it's nothing, but I was pretty proud of myself for completing a 5K at just two days short of 25 weeks pregnant.
I thought it was a great way to kick off my birthday, and Joe thought it was a great people watching opportunity to meet fellow cheetah lovers. No joke intended there - we actually visited the Cheetah Conservation Fund sanctuary while traveling in Namibia in 2004.
The race culminated with a fabulous brunch hosted by Sara and Vake, where we all put back on the calories we had just burned and then some, (but more on that in a later post because I'll have to share with you the pictures of June as Dark Helmet).
{2004. Smiling, despite Chewbaaka the cheetah being perched precariously close to my head!}
P.S. Here's a link to a recent article about how exercise during pregnancy is thought to be good not only for the mother, but also for the heart health of the baby: Exercising for Two
P.P.S. Hey, fellow FitMamas - this was a great way to get like 8,900 steps before 10 a.m. Wahoo! (Not that I'll be doing it again any time soon, but still.)

You rock! Seriously. You do. I feel like such a slacker. I've used our treadmill quite a bit this pregnancy, but running a 5k? You rock!
