Post Script

This is sort of a follow up to this post about our Aussie-inspired costumes.

At times in the past, Joe and I have thought about adopting.  It is something that has always appealed to me for some reason, ever since I can remember.

And then, when you look across the room, and see the bare butt of your naked as a jaybird daughter sticking up in the air, as her muffled voice yells from unseen depths, "I'm stuck in a beer can!" you can't help but think to yourself:  we would never pass the home inspection.

While we're on the subject of nudity -
I've been meaning to tell you what June's bedtime routine has evolved into, but I keep thinking that it would be easier to just videotape it.  Except that it's always right after baths, so Georgia is invariably naked, which I generally try to avoid videotaping and posting on the Internet (well, most of the time).  So it goes like this:  what used to be us sweetly singing two songs to June while gently swaying back and forth, has become singing those same two songs while Georgia runs around us in circles, shrieking excitedly.  Whichever parent is holding June must swoop her down each time that Georgia passes by, so that June can laugh hysterically while reaching out to try and grab her sister as she completes another lap.  When June does succeed in catching Georgia, it's usually by the hair, which leads to a momentary pause to untangle the mess and stop the whining before the laughter resumes and the whole thing starts over.  It only lasts a minute or two, but when you are in the "swooper" role, your arms are tired by the end.  I mean, that baby is over 20 lbs. now.  And then it's kiss, kiss, a sisterly hug (during which we must hold June's arms down, because she's so excited that she can't help herself from swatting at Georgia's face and hair), some freaking out by Georgia because June's version of a kiss is quite similar to a lick, aaaaand....good night.  June laid in crib.  Sucks fingers, tugs ear, lights out.

This is so not what the sleep books recommend, but no one's complaining.

oh i love that. and I'm so glad we're not the only one with the crazy pre-bedtime rituals. Ours involves chasing the (naked) kids around the house while saying, "i'm going to get you!" Yeah, nothing therapy inducing about that, right? Hey, they invented the game. We're just rolling with it. :)

I think that you could still possibly be in the clear with Georgia! I don’t remember nearly as much as you do from that age. I have no memories at all from my 3-year-old preschool and when I was 4 I have two very vague memories and they both revolve around Jill and her broken leg –ha! And I actually only have 2 memories of kindergarten and both those revolve around how mean my teacher was (and one of those stories also includes Jill).

You have me curious now about who else was in my preschool classes. I think I’m going to have to search for those photos next time I’m home and see who I recognize. Jill’s the only one I know of.

I can't wait to hear more about how Georgia is doing this weekend.
